We took a multi-sensory approach to reach you

To meaningfully engage residents, PSRC met people where they were, integrated cultural celebrations into our heavy subject matter, and made talking road safety approachable and fun. We incorporated the community input we heard into the draft Regional Safety Action Plan.

Regional Safety Action Plan Public Engagement – What We Heard

Safety Starts with Behavior

Roadway safety issues like speeding and distracted driving are heavily dependent on the individual making decisions that affect other people. We need to find a way to grow our safety culture regionally.

More and Better Infrastructure for Vulnerable Users

To protect those most at risk of death or serious injuries on our roadways, we need to ensure that upgrades to bicycle, pedestrian, and other non-motorized users are implemented equitably across the region.

Rules Without Enforcement Won’t Work

Even if we implement strategies like lower speed limits and safety cameras, those investments won’t increase roadway safety without the appropriate level of enforcement.
